One Step Ahead Of Squirrels

    Everyone has a wild bird feeding enthusiast on their Christmas
shopping list. We have a couple of new products that are sure to be a
big hit with a lot of backyard birders; especially those that cannot
abide squirrels pigging out at their feeders.

SquirrelStop
    The new SquirrelStop will convert any tube-type feeder into a
squirrel tilt-a-whirl. When a squirrel tries to raid your sunflower
seed, the extra weight on the feeder causes it to start spinning and
throws the squirrel to the ground. The SquirrelStop works on any hanging
feeder weighing up to 10 pounds and works on three "D" batteries.

SquirrelScatter
    The next new item is theSquirrelScatter. This feeder may be a little 
controversial for some. It delivers a mild electric shock to any squirrel, 
raccoon or opossum that tries to eat from the feeder. I speak from 
experience when I say a mild shock. The feeder works on two "D" batteries 
for up to three months and by that time all the squirrels in the 
neighborhood should beconditioned to stay away from the SquirrelScatter.

And for Squirrel Lovers ...
    We still have squirrel food and feeders for those "furbird" lovers
so don't  get the wrong idea that we are completely anti-squirrel. For
those people that enjoy feeding squirrels, we have a few new products
and ideas.

Peanut Feeders for Birds
    One other neat feeder that will be a hit with the avid or novice
birdfeeder is a peanut feeder.

    The Downey Woodpeckers at my house are already getting demanding
when the peanuts run low. Before long, they probably will be tapping on
the kitchen window for us to fill the feeder.

    The Carolina Wren that spends the winter eating the spider egg sacks
under our deck also appreciates the peanuts for a change of menu.

    If you have never offered peanuts, you might want to give it a try.
Peanuts are a big hit with a lot of different birds and a peanut feeder
would make a unique Christmas gift for your favorite birder!
