After a very cold March and very warm June in The Netherlands, we were wondering how the crop would look this year. Well, the harvest is now done and the bulbs look really good with nice skins and good sizes. For Johnson's Garden Centers, we have some new and exclusive varieties this fall, and some are in very limited supply. New Varieties! One of the new varieties is named Ice Cream. This late-blooming double tulip has a white top on a pink bottom. After you see it bloom, you'll know why we call it Ice Cream. You'll almost want to eat it! It will bloom for at least 3-4 weeks in the Wichita area. Johnson's will also have a new hyacinth called Miss Saigon which is not available in any catalogue. It has a very nice pink/purple bloom and a strong stem that will stand up in your garden. A new late-flowering double tulip called Freeman is a sport of the peony-flowering Wirosa Tulip. It has a maroon type color, is about 18" and will perform well everywhere. Exclusively at Johnson's ... There are several special tulip mixes available exclusively at Johnson's: American Flag (red, white and blue), Dark Night Special (hot pink and dark purple) and Red Light Special (red and white). And of course, for the fourth year the famous Prairie Mix Tulips will be available at Johnson's. This specialty mixture is excellent for the Kansas climate and is available only at Johnson's Garden Centers. Remember that many of these bulbs are limited in supply, so shop early for the best selection!
