All of these things are a part of the curb appeal of the home. The first area that people will notice is the lawn, and what type of shape it is in. A nice, deep green can be accomplished just by knowing some of the key components of a lawn. Knowing the right time to seed, or the right way to sod helps you get started toward a healthy lawn. A steady watering cycle and a seasonal fertilization program helps keep your lawn thick and green. Added weed control with the fertilizer application or on a specific-need basis will keep your lawn weed free. The proper mowing height is also an important part of the process to give you added weed resistance, to maintain the overall health of your lawn and keep it looking good. Having the right mix of trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals is important in creating an attractive, colorful appearance to your home. Consulting with a landscape architect, designer, or certified nursery professional for the right plant selection for each situation is a must not only for the size and color components of each plant, but also for the maintenance issues of your landscape as the years go by. A good design that brings color and texture that flows throughout the year; and has the right amount of maintenance required (not too much based on the homeowners wishes and abilities) combine to create great curb appeal. The background of curb appeal is the entrance to your home. Your wonderful green lawn and beautiful landscape has drawn attention to your home. The next step is to invite visitors to walk up and come on inside by addressing the entrance of your home. You might consider a decorative stone pathway that leads to a decorative front door. The use of annual pots or containers brings a beautiful display of color throughout the season. The warm presence of a small bench or a group of chairs will soften the look making it feel welcoming and hard to resist. The first impression of your home is based on curb appeal. With a little planning ahead and a little work, there are a number of different areas you can address to improve your curb appeal ... and turn people's heads!
