Hi-Tech Watering Can November 2007 Jeremy Johnson, Nursery Buyer & KS Certified Nursery Professional We gardeners are a competitive bunch. Whether it's bigger flowers, more flowers, tastier fruit, it seems as though we are always trying to one-up our neighbors and friends. Nowhere do I see this competition more prevalent than with tomato growers. Early in the season, prizes go to the person with the earliest tomato. A little later on, we measure and weigh them as we search for the largest. People try anything to get an edge up on the competition. We have a new secret weapon at Johnson's, just in time for Christmas giving, or to ready your personal arsenal for the upcoming gardening season. Enter the Enki. Enki is a revolutionary new product that super-saturates ordinary tap water with oxygen that is then delivered directly to your plant's root system. More oxygen means healthier plants, earlier and larger flowers, and more fruit. Ever wonder why our landscapes seem to look better after a thunderstorm? Much of the reason behind this is that thunderstorms produce super-oxygenated rainwater that is absorbed by plant roots. Enki does this for you (without the risk of hail and damaging winds!) You may think this sounds too good to be true. I did when I first saw the product. Testing done at the University of Minnesota found the following results: - Petunias--28% more flowers - Geraniums--76% more flower weight (those are some big flowers!) - Peppers--58% more yield - Tomatoes--22% more fruit Enki looks like an ordinary, though somewhat intriguing, watering can. It's what's inside that's important. Enki's proprietary technology converts the hydrogen and oxygen found in normal tap water into microbubbles that, in a matter of minutes, saturate your water with up to five times more oxygen than water alone. After the bubbling cycle, a light lets you know that Enki is ready to be put to use. Enki may be used in the garden or in the house. It's the hottest gardening gift this season, so make sure your family and friends aren't left out.
