Store Shorter days, cooler nights, turn off the air, open the windows ... fall is here. Now it's time to think about your fall decorating. Fall, by the way, is now the second most decorated season, right behind Christmas. As a child growing up in Milwaukee, I thought carving our pumpkin with a scary face and placing a candle inside was all there was to it. Today, one pumpkin would never do and the carving has become much more elaborate. As we do every year, we will have a large selection of pumpkins at Johnson's, but decorating has become a much bigger activity than pumpkin carving--and more fun, as well! Your front porch is a great place to start. With colorful mums, baskets full of pumpkins and gourds, and a grapevine wreath hung on your door you are set from September through Thanksgiving, with very little effort. Okay, is that too simple for you? Great, because at Johnson's Garden Centers we have everything you will need to do a super job of decorating for the fall season from your front porch to the dining room table. Our talented Johnson's purchasing staff went crazy at the Dallas Market this year and we have the most beautiful selection of glazed terra cotta pottery for your home. There is a beautiful earthenware rooster, which would look great in any kitchen. We also have salt and pepper shakers to dress up your table or a wonderful terra cotta oil bottle with small individual dishes for some yummy bread dipping. How about great looking twiggy berries, faux fruit garlands or grain sheaves to finish off your kitchen decor? If you really want to make a statement, get out that artificial tree, yes tree, and WOW your friends and family with an awesome fall display. You can use a tree as small as 2 ft. or as large as 9 ft. in a vaulted ceiling room. Your tree can be dripping with fall leaves, acorns, bittersweet and so much more. Placement can be anywhere from your porch, your living room or kitchen. Just think, with the tree already up and in place, all you have to do is undress the fall decorations and start creating your Christmas display. Wouldn't a head start on Christmas be a good thing? If all this is still a little frightening to you, just come to Johnson's Garden Centers for our fall decorating seminar and see how fun and easy it is to create your fall display. Mark your calendar and stop by on September 30 for what is sure to be a fun time with lots of shared ideas.
