Johnsons's Garden Centers Text File document - copyright 2002 PDF file available at http://www.johnsonsgarden.com/newsletter/giftsdecor.html Doodads for You, Dad June 2001 Emily Johnson, Johnson's East Store It's time once again to honor your father by hanging out that "I LUV U DAD!" flag and shopping for the perfect Father's Day gift. It doesn't matter whether or not your pop is an avid gardener, you're sure to find him something at Johnson's Garden Center. Tools: A hand rake or trowel, weeder, shovel or hoe would work just fine. But the ultimate tool is the Mantis Tiller. This versatile machine is lightweight and easy to operate and serves as not only a tiller, but as an edger, too. Furniture: Maybe dad would like a bench for the front porch or for the yard under a big tree É for relaxing with a book or watching the kids play. A bistro set put on the patio or deck can serve as a good place for Sunday brunch. Gloves and Shoes: Gloves will protect dad's hands and keep them clean when he's out digging in the dirt. A pair of Birki clogs or Muck Boots will keep his good shoes clean and hopefully ... for mom's sake ... he'll take them off before coming in the house and tracking mud and dirt everywhere. Statuary: Someone needs to keep dad company while he's outside gardening. A garden gnome would be perfect! They are known to help out when people aren't looking, so when dad's back is turned that little friend will clean up his mess and fix any mistake. (Even though dad is perfect in every way.) Spreader: I'm sure your dad gets tired of hauling a spreader to and from Johnson's Garden Center every time he needs to fertilize or apply other granular applications. A bright orange ferti-lome Broadcast Spreader in the garage is sure to make his day. Irrigation: Watering plants isn't always fun when it's hot outside, so a drip irrigation kit (or at least some parts and pieces) would make his day. While he's inside, and the watering is going on outside, dad can be reading the almanac you bought him. Water Gardening: What backyard garden is complete without a water feature? Some supplies to build a pond would be ideal. If he's already got a pond then some aquatic plants would be nice to spruce it up. Beautiful koi, fantails, and shubunkins also add life and color to the pond. Gift Certificate: If you still can't think of an ideal gift for your dad a gift certificate should suffice. He can pick out his own gift and that way you know he's happy. I hope some of these ideas have helped you decide on that perfect gift for your dad. Stop by Johnson's Garden Center before June 17th and our employees can assist you in picking out a gift ... or critiquing several of your choices. Whatever is decided upon É I'd just like to say Happy Father's Day to all dads! This is your day!
