Whether you are planting pansies, bulbs, shrubs, or just enjoying the fall colors on a walk or bike ride, this is the best time of year. COBWEB CONTROL We have many uninvited guests trying to take up residency at the Johnson household. On the siding of our house we have seen spider webs appearing for several weeks. Nancy has sprayed the areas with Dr. T's Cobweb Eliminator, the only patented product formulated to eliminate, clean, and inhibit the formation and reformation of cobwebs. Cobweb Eliminator works in several modes. It neutralizes and breaks down the web's attachment points which makes for easy removal; and it leaves a residue that continues to damper a web's adhesive properties. Cobweb Eliminator also discourages reformation by acting as a deterrent in keeping webs from ever being constructed. Cobweb Eliminator may be applied to wood, painted surfaces, vinyl, fiberglass, concrete and masonry and it will not stain. MORE UNINVITED GUESTS We also have many insects that love to come and visit our household. This year, Hi-Yield introduced a product called D.I.Y. Indoor Pest Control which contains Pyrethrins, Permethrin and Nylar¨. Nylar is a growth inhibitor that will interrupt or inhibit the life cycle of a pest. In layman's terminology, Nylar is not an insecticide (in the bug-killing definition) but is a man-made protein that only effects certain insects or groups of insects. This great new product will take care of ants, fleas, cockroaches, spiders, and other pesky insects for up to six months. ROASTED GREEN CHILE I hope you have enjoyed the fresh roasted chile peppers from Johnson's this fall. If you missed them, stop by any location to pick up a bag of frozen roasted chile for those Southwestern dishes. BUILD YOUR SOIL Fall is the best time of the year to build the soil structure and add fertility. This fall, after you are through with your vegetable or flower garden, add Johnson's Soil Recipe to your garden soil. These simple-to-add ingredients will add both organic matter and fertilizer to a 100 sq. ft. area: - Three 2-cu. ft. bags of Cotton Boll Compost - 40 lbs. Gypsum - 4 lbs. Hi-Yield Bone Meal - 4 lbs. ferti-lome Gardener's Special - 1 lb. Weed and Grass Stopper After adding these to your garden this fall and allowing the soil to go through several freeze/thaw cycles, it will be ready for spring. FALL WEED CONTROL Fall also brings an abundance of weeds such as dandelions, henbit and chickweed which will show their smiling faces in the spring. By using ferti-lome Weed-Out this fall after the weeds have germinated, you can control them when they are very small and before they bloom next spring. BRING IN HOUSEPLANTS Get houseplants ready to move inside by repotting them now with ferti-lome Ultimate Potting Mix. The plants will love having more room at the root zone. Spray with ferti-lome Multi-Purpose Insecticide to control most insects that have made your houseplant their summer home.
