Just for fun, go for a walk with the kids in an area with tall grass and weeds. Before you start, give the kids a pair of old tube socks to pull over their shoes. They may think you're nuts, especially if you're always on them about not running outside in their stocking feet. Carefully remove the socks when they are covered with seeds. At home, put the socks in a shallow foil pan with just enough water to make them wet. Put the pan where it will get plenty of light indoors and keep the socks moist. In a few days the sock garden will begin to sprout.
