For it is in giving that we receive.
Hello again!
As we near the last week before Christmas, we are all rushing around finding last minute gifts and finishing up last minute details. I know some people enjoy the challenge of last minute shopping, even saving it all for the 24th. That’s too much of a challenge for me!
As you are out shopping, I encourage you to think about those less fortunate. One of the local charities that we have worked with the past several years is the Wichita Children’s Home and their Christmas tree. Surrounded by gifts, the tree brings smiles to the kids at the home. Additional items are needed for the home not only as gifts, but to be used throughout the year. These items range from art supplies, games and activity passes, to snacks, clothing, hygiene, household items and infant needs. You can find a complete list here.
If you're unfamiliar with the Wichita Children's Home, they offer the only emergency, temporary residential shelter for children in our community. To keep the doors open for children ranging in age from birth to 22 years of age, WCH depends on donations from the community.
Last year alone, about 1,500 children came through their front doors for emergency shelter, many with only the clothes on their back. With the support the home receives each year, they are able to meet the needs of each child to ensure their safety and well being. By including the Children's Home in your holiday giving, you are not just making the holidays brighter, you are changing lives.
Stop by our stores (before Christmas Eve!) Plants make beloved gifts, and we have a great selection of not only gift items, but seasonal snacks, decorations, trees and greenery. Many items in the store are marked down now for great savings.
Your friend in the garden,
Marty Johnson
Owner - Johnson's Garden Center
P.S. Join us for a NEW event this Saturday. We're hosting a Local Maker's Market at both Johnson's stores 10am to 4pm. The vendors will be different at each location, so if you want to see them all, stop by both stores!
