Moonlight Madness is this Saturday from noon to midnight.

Moonlight Madness has always been a fun time at the garden center. As with all of our promotions, it has evolved from time to time. In the early years, the hours of the event were 6:00 pm to midnight, and it was still HOT!! So hot, in fact, that I saw two trees fighting over a dog! It was so hot, my thermometer went up to, 'Are you kidding me?!' So hot, the moon pies we served at the Moonlight Madness that fell on the anniversary of the lunar landing melted before we got them out of the box! We did serve the moon pies anyway - imagine chocolate covered moon pies in the heat of summer! We’ve also served ice cream treats and had WWII searchlights in the sky. Yes, it’s always a fun event.
A few things have changed since those early days. Saturday's Moonlight Madness hours now are 12 noon till 12 midnight. Our hourly specials are now all day long. Check out the sign below for all of the specially priced items (look at that discount on fescue seed - just in time for fall seeding prep!) Come after 10:00 pm and save an additional 10% on not only sale items, but ALL regular priced items as well. I almost forgot - people watching is always fun at Moonlight Madness; it’s not uncommon to see people in their PJ’s shopping up until midnight!
Thankfully, it looks like we'll have a break in the heat for Moonlight Madness this Saturday. We're also always asked if it's still okay to plant in the heat of July. It definitely is! With proper watering and plant placement (pay attention to the sun/shade recommendations on the tags), you can plant now to refresh your planters and landscape beds.
We are working with our Hatch green chile suppliers in southern New Mexico to have our first shipment of Hatch green chile in the stores the 2nd week of August. Early reports are indicating another good year for green chile. Pre-order your green chile at last year's price on our website now!
