Hello, again!

What a fun weekend at the garden centers for ChileFest 2025 this past Saturday. Selling out of our Pork Chile Verde as well as our Hatch Green Chile Cheeseburgers was exciting and good for those fortunate enough to get their fill.

The recipe Marty’s Pork Green Chile is in our new Hatch Habit Green Chile Cookbook, which is available in store or online. The sauce used for topping the Green Chile Cheeseburgers was Joyce’s ‘Secret’ Award-Winning Green Chile Sauce recipe, and it is in the new cookbook as well. Her recipe calls for 1-2 cups of green chile; naturally I went with the higher quantity. Thanks to our friend Joyce Seevers Benedict for the recipe!

Be sure to stop by Central Standard Brewing this Friday evening for a pint and pick up a clamshell of fresh roasted Hatch Green Chile from us as well. Also, visit us this Sunday at Orie’s Garlic Fest in Old Town and enjoy everything garlic, including our Smokin’ Joe’s Hatch Green Chile Cheeseburgers pop-up stand. We’ll be selling Marty’s Green Chile Verde and roasting and selling green chile peppers as well. Both stores will be roasting all week also. If you haven’t picked up your green chile yet, this is the week to do it!

Fall is definitely for planting, and fall is unofficially here with the mild temperatures and great soil moisture. With our home-grown pansy crop ready to ship to the stores soon and our garden mums well-stocked, we’ll help you give your home porch, deck or landscape a ‘fall fresh-over’. Our pumpkins and gourds are arriving this week, with dozens of varieties to complement the fall landscape colors.

Fall is for fertilizing, also. With the warm soil temperatures, fall-planted perennials, trees, shrubs and bulbs get well established before the heat of next summer. Fall fertilization of not only turf areas, but all landscape plants and trees, provides big benefits during mild fall conditions, as well.

If you need help creating fall decor for your home, sign up for one of our fall workshops. They'll put you in the mood for fall for sure. See you soon!

P.S. - I overseeded some areas in my lawn about a week ago, and the seed has already germinated! It's quick this time of year. If you need help getting started, stop by one of our free lawn seminars on Saturdays this month.
