Summertime goes by too fast.
Hello, again!
Summer goes by so fast. We are in back-to-school mode, finishing up any vacation time we may have, or taking a quick trip to the lake or Colorado. Now is also the perfect time to start the process of killing bermuda and other weeds from our turf with Hi-Yield Killzall.
Killzall is a non-selective weed and grass killer - so it's perfect for killing off tough-to-remove weeds and grasses before lawn re-seeding. We sprayed around the store late last week and with the warm (hot) temperatures, the target weeds were showing decline in just a few hours. Total yellowing was evident in 3-4 days.
Because of its non-selective properties, Killzall is not made to select a type of plant to control. It controls everything. That gives Killzall the advantage of being able to control both grassy and broadleaf weeds. It’s a safe and effective tool to control unwanted weeds where applied. Keep it away from desirable plants and only the target weeds are controlled.I also appreciate that it’s rainfast in as little as 2 hours.
Jeremy and I had a conversation with our Hatch green chile supplier recently regarding the timing of our first load of green chile from Hatch, New Mexico. Our plan at this point is to have chile in the stores in early August. Things can change - rain, trucking, harvesters - but at this point I think we are good to go. If you want to get that first batch at last year’s price, head over to our website to pre-order your chile.
Be sure to keep Labor Day Saturday open for an all new ChileFest at the garden centers. It’s set to be a foodie-inspired celebration with some special surprises. Most of all, I can't wait to share our fire-roasted Hatch green chile with you! We’ll have food samples with green chile, and we’ll be demonstrating how to make my pork chile verde on site for you to sample as well. You won't want to miss it!
I do want to thank you all for donating to Ride the Divide for HumanKind this spring. I made it to Pinedale, Wyoming this year on the ride before heading home. As always, the sights of the Rocky Mountains were fantastic, but it’s the people we meet on our journey that make the trip special. This year I rode for a stretch with 4 young men from New Zealand. Having met in college, they were taking a year off and traveling the globe. It was interesting to hear their comments about how beautiful the US is and how they were enjoying experiencing its people. I figure all they hear about our country is what they see on the news - mostly political. I’m glad their journey took them down the heartland of America, experiencing small towns and just regular people like you and me.
As always, we’re here for you with answers to your lawn, landscape and garden questions. If something is ‘bugging you’, stop by with a bagged sample or picture so we can guide you to the right remedy.
See you soon!
