Moonlight Madness, Hatch Green Chiles, & Fall Lawn Planning
Hello, again!
Moonlight Madness at Johnson's has always been a fun time. As with all of our promotions, they tend to evolve over the years. In Moonlight's early days, the hours of the event were 6:00 pm to midnight, and it was HOT!! So hot that I saw two trees fighting over a dog! So hot my thermometer went up to "Are you kidding me?" So hot the moon pies we served on the anniversary of the lunar landing melted before they got out of the box!! - That one's no joke. Imagine chocolate-covered moon pies in the heat of summer. It was a mess. From serving ice cream treats to illuminating the store with WWII searchlights, Moonlight Madness is always a fun event.
This year's Moonlight Madness is from 12 noon until 12 midnight this Saturday, July 18th. Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be another scorcher. Fortunately for you, we made our deals this year just as hot.
- 50% OFF all annual and perennial plants, shrubs, and houseplants, as well as cacti, succulents, upright evergreens, and pottery
- 30% OFF all deciduous trees, including fruit trees
- 20% OFF gardening accessories, such as statuary, birdbaths, flags, chimeneas, and more
We also have sales on our Grade A All Bark Cedar Mulch, Cotton Burr Compost, and ferti•lome Ultimate Potting Mix.
You can find all these deals and more in our flyer below, or visit the Moonlight Madness event page on our website.
But the craziness doesn't stop there! Night owls get the best deals when we put the whole store on sale from 10 PM - Midnight with an extra 10% off everything (regular-priced and sale items). This makes for quite a wild sight, as it has become a tradition for many to wait until 10:00 and then shop in their PJs until midnight!
Once we get past Moonlight Madness, it's on to fall gardening, which starts with fall lawn renovation. If lawn renovation is on your list of fall projects, sign up for one of our Free Lawn Renovation Seminars on July 25 or August 1 at either of our stores. Starting at 10 AM and lasting about an hour, we'll guide you through the entire process of reseeding and rejuvenating your lawn. If you can't make it, feel free to stop by, and we'll be happy to answer any questions you have about the lawn renovation process.
Hatch Green Chile season is nearly here! With the dry conditions in southern New Mexico, we were a bit concerned about the chile crop. We've stayed in contact with our chile source, who assured us that the growing season is going well and the pre-harvest quality and quantity are great. Stay tuned for more announcements once we receive our chiles. Until then, you can lock in last year's prices and Pre-order Your Chiles Now to pick up right when we start roasting. We are also visiting with Radius Brewing in Emporia this week to start planning a roasting pop-up there (more details to come).
