The grass is always greener around the fire hydrant.
This summer I’m not going to let the grub worms get ahead of me. If you recall from previous articles it’s easy for me to think that my irrigation system isn’t watering my lawn evenly when the temperatures rise in the summer and areas of my turf seem to suffer and brown out. I’ve adjusted the sprinkler heads, but still the damage spreads over a couple of hundred square feet. We chatted about fungi recently and there could be brown patch disease this time of the year, but grub damage is different. When the turf pulls up easily, grubs can be present just at the root zone.
Grubs are hungry this time of the year. Hi-Yield Grub Free Zone will help eliminate grubs all season long. If you are considering planting new grass this year, it’s not too early to start the process. The first decision to make is if it’s necessary to start completely over from the ground up. Many times it’s easier to go that route. By eliminating the existing turf, all weeds and unwanted bermuda grass will be gone.
Then by planting our Premium Fescue Blend Grass Seed you’ll have the highest rated varieties as turf. It's a blend of fescue types that have rated highest in trials right here in south central Kansas.
To start your lawn over, my first advice is to continue to keep your existing turf actively growing; yes, keep it watered. The plants will take up the Hi-Yield Killzall Weed & Grass Killer quicker, and you’ll see results much sooner than if the lawn is under stress. Killzall is an ultra formula with surfactant that dries on fast. It’s rainfast in as little as two hours. Because Killzall is a non-selective weed control, it's important to keep it off desirable plants and vegetation. By starting the process to remove your lawn in July, there is plenty of time to spray any missed spots before seeding in the fall.
